Kirsti Akkermann

Kirsti Akkermann, PhD

Kirsti is a certified clinical psychologist, psychotherapist and supervisor.
She graduated her doctoral studies in psychology from the University of Tartu in 2010. Her doctoral thesis focused on biological markers of eating disorders. In her current research, she focuses on interplay between genes, personality traits, and the environment in the development of mental disorders. She is also interested in exploring the underlying mechanisms of emotional eating and eating disorders, and different coping modalities.
She has completed the full training of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy at the Estonian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy and the intensive training of dialectical behaviour therapy. In addition, she has trained herself in motivational interviewing, family therapy and self-compassion therapy.
Kirsti has been working as a psychologist since 2000, primarily focusing on working with adults and adolescents. She has previously worked in the inpatient general psychiatry unit at the Psychiatric Clinic of Tartu University Hospital as well as in the treatment center for eating disorders and in a private clinic. Kirsti is an associate professor of clinical psychology at the Institute of Psychology of the University of Tartu.

Karol Soidla

Kärol is a certified clinical psychologist and a clinical child psychologist.
She graduated with a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Tartu in 2017, and is currently pursuing doctoral studies focusing on the role of perfectionism and impulsivity in the development of disordered eating behavior.
She has completed the advanced training of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy at the Estonian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy and the intensive training of dialectical behaviour therapy.
Kärol has been working as a psychologist since 2017, currently also as a clinical psychologist in the general psychiatry department at the Psychiatric Clinic of Tartu University Hospital and as a junior lecturer of clinical psychology at the Institute of Psychology of the University of Tartu. Kärol works with children, adolescents and adults.

Katrin Kukk

Katrin is a certified clinical psychologist (currently on parental leave).
She graduated her doctoral studies in psychology from the University of Tartu in 2020. Her doctoral thesis focused of risk factors of binge eating and overeating, including difficulties in emotion regulation.
She has completed the advanced training of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy at the Estonian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy and the intensive training of dialectical behaviour therapy. In addition, she has trained herself in motivational interviewing, schema therapy and mindfulness-based psychotherapy.
Katrin has been working as a psychologist since 2015, currently also as a clinical psychologist in the general psychiatry department at the Psychiatric Clinic of Tartu University Hospital particularly focusing on working with adults.

Sheryl is a certified clinical psychologist.
She graduated with a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Tartu in 2019 and she has completed the advanced training of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy at the Estonian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy. In addition, she has trained herself in motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy.
Sheryl has been working as a psychologist since 2018, currently also at the Psychiatric Clinic of Viljandi Hospital working with children, adolescents and adults.

In addition, she has trained herself in solution-focused brief therapy and family therapy.
Maris has been working as a psychologist since 2004 with children, adolescents and adults.

Helo Liis graduated with a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Tartu in 2021. She is currently continuing her studies pursuing a doctoral degree focusing on elaborating of classification systems for psychiatric disorders.
Helo is currently taking part of the advanced training of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy at the Estonian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy and has completed the intensive training of dialectical behaviour therapy.
She has been working as a psychologist since 2021, currently working with both adolescents and adults under the supervision of a clinical psychologist.

In addition, she has completed self-compassion and mindfulness practical course.
Marleen has been working as a psychologist since 2020, currently working with both adolescents and adults under the supervision of a clinical psychologist.
